OUR ENVIRONMENT
Over the years we have sought to manufacture products in ways that
would be most beneficial to our environment. Over 20 years ago we began using
recycled board in our vinyl binders (a practice we still follow). You'll find
in our catalog that we offer many products THAT CONTAIN
RECYCLED MATERIAL. We suggest that you consider these products when
you order.
Through our Environmentally
Bound™ program, we recycle vinyl binders with metal
rings that are returned to us.
We reuse or recycle the various components of the binders, thereby
diverting these materials from our nation's landfills. Please ask you Customer
Service Representative about this worthwhile program.
Our company also
has its own internal recycling program. We recycle material from the manufacturing
process, as well as office paper and beverage cans. In addition, we support many
national and regional organizations concerned with nature and the environment.

Governor's Waste Minimization Award
Recognizes American Thermoplastic
Company
ATC
was selected to receive the Governor's Waste Minimization Award in recognition
of the Environmentally Bound™ program which recycles three-ring loose-leaf vinyl
binders. The award was presented by James M. Seif, secretary of the state of Pennsylvania,
at the Department of Environmental Protection Annual Pollution Prevention Conference.
As Mr. Seif stated in his announcement letter to the company, "Your waste minimization
efforts, whether they are related to solid waste, waste water, air emissions,
or all three, not only result in significant environmental benefits, but also
impressive economic gains. Your efforts serve both to reduce the amount of waste
requiring disposal and to conserve our natural resources for future generations." Environmentally
Bound accepts old, used, and unwanted three-ring vinyl binders for recycling as
an alternative to tossing them in the office garbage can. The binder recycling
program was introduced in August, 1991 and since its inception over 200,000 pounds
of binders have been diverted from landfills. For more information about the Environmentally

Honored in SGIA's Community Service Program
In
recognition of its Environmentally Bound™ program, American Thermoplastic Company
also received an Honorable Mention in the Screenprinting & Graphic Imaging
Community Service Program. To
be considered for Community Service Recognition, a program must meet established
criteria set by the SGIA, including the contribution of funds, facilities, equipment
and/or personnel time to the program. Moreover, the program must benefit people
outside the company; its results must be measurable; the program must exemplify
a commitment to social responsibility and extend above the day-to-day business
of the organization or individuals involved. |
