AMERICAN THERMOPLASTIC COMPANY WINS TWO TOP SGIA AWARDS FOR BINDERS
When the best screen printers in the world competed in the Specialty Graphics Imaging Association's Golden Image/Andre Schellenberg competition this fall, American Thermoplastic Company stood out, winning the two top awards in the Ring and Catalog Binders category.
American Thermoplastic Company (ATC) received the Gold Award (Award of Excellence) for the category: Ring and Catalog Binders, multi-color screen-printing. The binder, screen-printed with three-color graphics, was produced at the company's manufacturing facility in Pittsburgh, PA. ATC also won the prestigious Andre Schellenberg Award for a binder that was entered in the Ring and Catalog Binders, digital printing category.
"I am very proud of our team," said company president Steve Silberman. "Our work was compared to the best in the world, and we came out on top both in screen printing and four-color process digital printing for ring binders. That's quite an accomplishment."
More than 100 companies from around the world entered the competition, submitting over 500 entries in 39 different categories. The entries were evaluated by a team of judges selected from the association's international membership.
"The judges had a very difficult time this year. Not because of the sheer volume of entries, but because of the overall quality of the work. Judges in virtually every category told me the entries were so good that choosing winners was a real challenge," said Johnny Shell, Vice President, Technical Services for the SGIA. Shell added that the Golden Image/Andre Schellenberg is a technical competition, excluding aesthetic issues from the judging process. Entries were judged on the level of difficulty and quality of execution.
"Winning the Award of Excellence for Ring and Catalog Binders puts American Thermoplastic Company among the top screen printers in the world in terms of quality and capability. The ability to consistently print such high quality products indicates that ATC is an expert at controlling the many variables involved in screen printing and digital printing," Shell said.

AMERICAN THERMOPLASTIC COMPANY WINS FOUR AWARDS IN PRINTING INDUSTRY COMPETITION
American Thermoplastic Company received four awards in the 2007 Binding Industries of America Product of Excellence competition. The BIA contest is part of the Premier Print awards, conducted by the Printing Industries of America, Inc./ Graphic Arts Technical Foundation at their annual convention, held this year in Dallas, Texas.
American Thermoplastic Company (ATC) won the Product of Excellence Award in the Screening: Multi-Color category. ATC also won an Award of Recognition in this category. American Thermoplastic Company also won two awards in the Four-Color Process Digital Printing category.
The Product of Excellence and Premier Print Awards are international competitions with over 5100 entries received from 17 countries. The panel of judges was made up of distinguished professionals from the graphic arts community from all over the world. Entries are judged on degree of difficulty, uniqueness of design and quality of workmanship and materials.

American Thermoplastic Company Wins Awards From Digital Printing Industry
American Thermoplastic Company recently won several digital printing industry awards for the loose-leaf products that it printed. The ring binders were produced on its greATColor® four-color digital process printing system.
American Thermoplastic Company (ATC) had two winning entries at the ICE Awards in Las Vegas in November 2005. ATC also won an HP Indigo Ribbon Award in the Transformation Showcase category at the Print ‘05 Show in Chicago in September 2005.
Both of the award competitions were judged by a panel of industry experts. Hundreds of entries were submitted by printing companies from across the country. The awards recognize outstanding efforts in the design, printing and production of graphic arts material.
